RITTA operates one of the oldest Table Tennis groups in New England. There has been a RITTA club in existence since 1945. The original club was in Providence. In the 70s, the club moved to Warwick. In the 80s, the present club in Manville was opened. In the 90s a satellite club was opened in East Greenwich.

LINKS, RESOURCES, INFO
1) USATT: Table Tennis in the United States is Governed by USA Table Tennis. Their website includes a Ratings Search function, a listing of Sanctioned Tournaments , a listing of Clubs across the USA, and other information.
2) RULES: RITTA leagues and tournaments follow the Official USATT Rules for Table Tennis. RITTA Club Rules also apply.
3) RATINGS: RITTA leagues and tournaments use separate ratings systems that are all closely related to the USATT Ratings. This Chart illustrates how ratings correspond to level of play. The concept is that a number is assigned to your level of play and that "rating" will go up or down based upon how you perform in matches against other rated players. RITTA uses official USATT ratings for USATT sanctioned tournaments, Ratings Central ratings for unsanctioned tournaments, and our own unofficial club ratings for leagues. The RITTA "A" League is designed for players with a 1400 rating or higher (the advanced players). The RITTA "B" League is designed for all levels of play.
4) TOURNAMENTS: RITTA runs tournaments each year. The Rhode Island Open is our largest event (generally in April or May). In this region there are many clubs that run annual tournaments (see the list below). The Framinham Club in the Boston area runs monthly tournaments, and Maine's Lewiston club runs two tournaments each year. Spin Tech runs an annual 4 Star Event in CT., the NATT runs two 4 Star tournaments each year in Piscataway, NJ, and the Westfield club runs large monthly tournaments in Westfield, NJ.
5) NEW PLAYERS: We recommend that new players attend an Open Play session at the club to see the facility, double check that equipment meets requirements, and to gauge one's level for other club activities. Open Play sessions are currently on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. |
