- Is this friendly or serious competition?
Both.
We have a great time and the play becomes very intense at times. Players who come on league nights are grouped into 2 or 3 divisions according to their skill level and performance from the prior week. You play the best 3 of 5 games to 11 with each player in your division. All matches are subject to RITTA ratings which are adjusted up or down for the result of each match.
- What exactly is a rating?
Simply put, your rating is the measure of your ability. First time players are observed and assigned an initial rating based on their game. Most new players are in the 1000 to 1200 range. If a player's rating rises into the 1500 to 1600 range, he/she may have the ability to play in the 'A' league.
- How are the ratings calculated?
Two factors decide the amount a rating changes for the result of a match - whether you win or lose and the difference in the players's ratings. Here is the schedule which is used for RITTA ratings.
HRPW = Higher rated player wins (not an upset)
LRPW - Lower rated player wins (upset)
